What is PocketFives.com?PocketFives.com is a site dedicated to Online Poker. Our goal is to expand the online poker community through our Poker Discussion Board, Online Tournament Player Rankings, Site Reviews and Articles. Why PocketFives.com? As a site dedicated to online poker, PocketFives.com chose one the most culturally rich hands in online poker for its name. An article further explaining the derivation of PocketFives.com can be found here. You have ads for gaming sites. Does that mean they are legal? When you gamble online, including playing poker and making sports bets, you are subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where you are located. This may include the country, state, county, city or tribe from which you make a bet. Operators and advertisers do not know the laws of all jurisdictions. Therefore, it is your responsibility to determine the law that applies to you and to only make a bet where it is legal to do so. The advertisements you find on PocketFives.com are designed only for jurisdictions where such advertising is legal. An advertisement or hyperlink does not constitute an offer, solicitation or invitation for the use of any service in any jurisdiction in which such activities are prohibited or restricted - they are void where prohibited or restricted by law. Advertisements and hyperlinks are designed to be used only where such gaming is legal. They are not to be used if you are in a jurisdiction where gambling on the Internet may be illegal. Creating an account on PocketFives.com Although you don't need to have a user account to read the content on PocketFives.com, creating a username allows you to post your own threads and questions. In addition, being registered allows you to participate in the PocketFives.com Open, earn the PocketFives.com Triple Crown, and win prizes such as our monthly Bad Beat award. To create an account, please follow the instructions on our Registration Page. You will be asked to enter a preferred username and your email address. Your email address will not be compromised, shared in any way, or displayed on this site, but is necessary for important information concerning prizes and bonus awards. If your preferred username is available, you will be sent an email verification notice to your registered email address which you will need to use to verify your account with PocketFives.com. You will then be able to start posting after verification. If your requested username is not available, you will be taken back to the Registration Page and asked to choose another name. Choosing a username PocketFives.com asks that you follow a few rules when choosing a username. Taking a few minutes to choose a good username is worthwhile, since it will be one of the first things other registered users will know about you. PocketFives.com recommends that you choose the same name that you use on your main online poker site, although this is certainly not required. In general, you may select any unique name of your choosing. We do ask, however, that you avoid impersonating both online poker players and live poker professionals when choosing a username. Choosing a taken online poker name is frowned upon, and taking the name of an online or live celebrity is strictly prohibited and may result in the removal of your PocketFives.com account. Changing your password Go to the Edit Profile link under your Home Profile. You should find Change Password in the upper right-hand corner. This link will load a window that will prompt you for your new and old passwords. Once your password has been changed, you will have to login with your new password on your next visit to PocketFives.com. Logging on to PocketFives.com If you have cookies enabled, your login information will be saved every time you log on to PocketFives.com and you will only have to login again when your cookie expires or when you have logged out. If you are currently logged out and need to log back in, use the login link found in the top left corner of every page (above the search). Retrieving a forgotten username or password Click the Lost Password? link found on the login page. You will be asked to enter the email address you used when you registered for a PocketFives.com account, and then your username and password will be emailed to this address. Can I change my username? You cannot change your username directly. You must email admin@fivesmail.com to do it for you. Even though it can be done, however, it is officially "discouraged." You must have a good reason to have your username changed (e.g., you want your PocketFives.com username to be associated with the name you use on a particular online site). Even if you provide a good reason for the change, your request may not be granted if You have a significant reputation on PocketFives.com associated with your current name People will fail to recognize the requested new name as the same person as your current name Note that requests will be unconditionally denied if the requested username is already in use. My account is locked! What do I do? If you have attempted to log into the site several times with an incorrect password, your account will be locked and you will be unable to log in. Accounts are unlocked automatically two hours after the last failed attempt, but remember that even typing the correct password while your account is locked will add to this countdown. If you are still having trouble logging in after waiting the given period of time, it may be because you are using a new computer after recently changing your password on a differnt machine. The first machine may be attempting to automatically log you in with the incorrect password. In the event that this happens, the only way to unlock your account is to leave the site completely for two hours. On returning, go immediately to the log-in page and use the correct user name and password. What are new tags and how do I use them? New tags are used to inform users that there are new threads or new replies to threads that have not been read. New tags are triggered on a user-by-user basis and are color coded as follows: Threads or posts that are completely new, meaning that you have not read the original post or any of its replies or threads that have new replies, meaning you have read the original post (and some of its replies), but since you last looked, new replies have been added. Threads that have no new replies. Popular threads All new tags expire after a period of 8 hours, so if you have allowed an extended period of time to elapse without checking the PocketFives.com discussion boards, you may have missed posts without realizing it. What is the difference between thread view and flat view? Everyone has an option in their profile to choose their default thread view--you can choose either "flat" or "threaded." Flat view is the view in which posts are shown with no indentations, in the order in which they were posted. This is the default view for everyone. Threaded view is how it was before for everyone, with 15 posts showing per page and indentations based on what post someone was replying to. It's very important to note here that if you preferred the old view, all you have to do is go into your profile and edit it, choosing threaded view as your personal default. This change has been made for several reasons--primarily that there have been a lot of complaints about not having "new" tags within posts, denoting posts that have been added since your last view of the thread. We'd like to ask that everyone start using the "quote" feature more often, so as to show which post you're replying to in a thread. How do I search PocketFives.com? In the upper right-hand corner of every page is the PocketFives.com search bar. Enter some text and click on the search button next to the text field. Quick searches query both titles and post content and return 100 results at a time. Search results can be filtered using the drop down for Off Topic forum, Poker Discussion, posts by user or the entire site. If a search returns more than 100 results, the information at the top of the search page will inform you that more than 100 results were found and will provide you with a link pointing to the next page of matches. If you enter more than one word in the text field, the search will return a list of all content where both words were found. The requested words will not necessarily be found together (i.e., back to back) in the resulting content. Advanced search options allow you to specify the following parameters: Find results with all the words Matching all the tags Written By - Who wrote the content; please note that you must specify PocketFives.com usernames exactly as they appear on the site With Date- Dates between which the content you are searching for was posted or on a specific date Sorted by - newest, oldest or by relevence If all else fails, you can try searching PocketFives.com via Google. Why can't I post? To prevent people from creating multiple accounts, we require users to have verified accounts in order to post. If you do not have a verified account, the "Post" and "Reply" buttons will not appear, and you will have to use the "Verify account" link that shows up below "Logged in as" at the top of any posting page. This tool will ask you to enter the email address you want associated with your account, and a verification email will be sent. Follow the instructions enclosed to finish the verification process. Posting a new thread on PocketFives.com You must be a registered user to begin posting on PocketFives.com (please see our Registration Page page if you haven't already registered). Once registered, you will see a post button at the top of each forum page: Clicking this button will take you to the post editor. Please see Post formatting tips for more information about this tool. Replying to an existing post on PocketFives.com You must be a registered user to begin replying to posts on PocketFives.com (please see our Registration Page page if you haven't already registered). Once registered, you will see a reply button in the title bar of each post: Clicking this button will take you to the post editor. Please see Post formatting tips for more information about this tool. Editing a Post As a registered user of PocketFives.com, you have the ability to edit the posts that you have written. The edit feature is a privilege that we ask you don't abuse. Correcting spelling mistakes and typos is the main purpose of this tool. If you find you need to make a major change to your statements, please do so with an update statement at the end of your post without compromising any discussions related to your original words. In the title bar of your posts, you will see an edit button: Clicking this button will take you to the post editor. Please see Post formatting tips for more information about this tool. How do I resize my post? If you are trying to copy a large image or a large HTML table into a post on PocketFives.com, you may be receiving a message that says "You are not able to submit this post because it is too wide." There are several reasons that your post may be too wide. Sometimes, the reason is as simple as having typed a long word or a long link with no spaces. If this is the case, separate the word or link with spaces or carriage returns, and resubmit your post. If you have entered an image into the post, you can solve the problem by resizing your image with an image editing program before uploading it to an image hosting site, or you can manipulate the width attribute of the image HTML tag. Click the HTML checkbox on the post editor, and find the part of your code that looks like: ...< img src=... width=500 >... Make sure the image has a width attribute that is no greater than 500 or enter this attribute in the tag if it doesn't already exist, and you should be able to resubmit your post. Why are my carriage returns stripped? The rich-text editor employed by PocketFives.com is based on the designMode() functionality introduced in Internet Explorer 5, and implemented in Mozilla 1.3+ using the Mozilla Rich Text Editing API. As such, the editing tool's full functionality works in IE5+, Mozilla 1.3+, Mozilla Firebird/Firefox 0.6.1+, Netscape 7.1+, and in any other browser that fully supports designMode() functionality. All other browsers will display a standard text area box. If you see the the following toolbar at the top of the PocketFives.com text editor, your specific browser supports this functionality. Browsers not displaying the above toolbar will use raw HTML to store the content written. As such, any non-recognized HTML characters (including carriage returns) will be ignored. In order to create separate paragraphs when using a browser that does not support designMode() functionality, you will need to place two HTML break tags between your paragraphs as demonstrated by the following example: Content from my first paragraph Content from my second paragraph Post formatting tips Here are some tips for making your posts as readable as possible: Caps lock is annoying. Not only are things difficult to read when everything is capitalized, but also it gives the impression that you are screaming. Please be considerate of others or your posts may go unread. Long paragraphs are boring. Think about the posts that you read. You probably steer clear of ones that contain solid blocks of text unless you know you're interested in the content. When you write your post consider: would I read this when scanning through a page? If you are having trouble separating paragraphs, please see Why are my carriage returns stripped? HTML tags are allowed when posting. If you have a little HTML knowledge under your belt, feel free to use anchor and table tags when making posts, by using the Html toggler in the text editor toolbar. Please make sure your HTML is well-formed and do not abuse this functionality. Feel free to edit your post. If things are mispelled or you notice typos, don't hestiate to correct the errors. Again, we ask that you do not abuse this privilege, and if you find you need to make a major change to your statements, please do so with an update statement at the end of your post without compromising any discussions related to your original words. Why was my post deleted? PocketFives.com reserves the right to moderate the content on this site as it sees fit. Please make tasteful posts avoiding anything abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, or sexually-oriented. Tasteless and/or illegal posts are impermissible and will be deleted. Such posts may lead to your being permanently banned and/or your service provider being informed. In addition, PocketFives.com does not allow posts promoting affiliate programs or posts offering money exchanges, backing, and/or tournament seat selling. While the staff at PocketFives.com will be moderating and deleting posts on a 24-hour basis, PocketFives.com will not be held liable for any loss incurred as a result of malicious content on this site. PocketFives.com also reserves the right to remove any posts that it deems harmful to the community. Such posts include, but are not limited to, asking why your post was deleted in the public forums instead of contacting the staff via email, bumping old or inflammatory threads, and intentionally starting a topic to incite hositility. Violations of these rules may lead to your account being banned. How do I copy and paste? PocketFives.com has a few utilities to make it easier to copy and paste other posts from pocketfives (if you ever want to quote a previous post in one of your replies, for example). For every post in a thread, there is a copy icon () in the post title area. Clicking on this icon will copy the content of the selected post to your computer's clipboard. When creating a post, use the paste icon () to place your clipboard's contents into the post editor. (If you wish to use CTRL+V, you will need to toggle the HTML option before pasting). How do I send a private message? To send a private message to a another user on PocketFives.com you must first go to that user's profile page. To get to a user's profile page you can use the author link available on any post written by that user or you can search for the user by using our Player Database Search page. Once you have made it to a registered user's profile page, you will be able to send that user a private message by entering a message in the private message section. What constitutes an inappropriate private message? Inappropriate private messages include, but are not limited to, spam, requests for money transfers, advertising, requests for backing, and personal attacks. PocketFives.com reserves the right to monitor private messages, and if you are found to be in voaltion of our rules, your account will be banned. We encourage the use of private messaging for congratulating players on their recent accomplishments, for contacting PocketFives.com users in your area, for inviting friends to join upcoming tournaments, and for requesting email addresses and/or IM usernames. If you are the recipient of any messages that violate our rules, we ask that you save the message in question and contact us at support@fivesmail.com so we may take appropriate action. How do I disable/enable private messaging? To disable/enable private messaging, go to your private messaging inbox, which is accessible via your Home Profile. In your inbox, there is a button to enable/disbable the delivery of private messages. When private messages are disabled, you will not be notified when someone sends you a message, and the sender will receive an automatic message telling him/her that you have private messages disabled. How do I know when I have a new private message? At the top of every page (with the exception of the PocketFives.com home page), there is a section in the top right-hand corner which tells you that you are logged into PocketFives.com. When you have new, unread private messages, a line appears below the "Logged in" line with the number of unread messages you have waiting in your profile. Using the link that appears in this message will take you to your profile page. Please note that once you have accessed new messages on your profile page, your new messages are counted as having been read, the messages are sent to your inbox, and the "new messages" line no longer gets displayed. How do I manage my private messages? In the Private Message section of your profile page, there is a "Message inbox" link. Use this link to get to your message inbox where you can "delete" or "keep" individual private messages. Unread private messages are automatically deleted after 14 days. How do I add a thread to my watch list? When looking at a list of threads in topic view on any forum thread listing page, there are [+] and [-] links on the right-hand side of every thread listing. Use the [+] link to add the respective thread to your watch list. You can find your watch list on your home profile page. How do I hide/unhide a thread? Use the [-] link for the respective thread to hide a thread. Hiding a thread will remove it from the forum listing page, but will not bump the first thread on the next page to the current page. This means that if you overuse this feature, it is possible to have very few (even zero) listings on a given thread list page. To unhide a thread, use the "Manage watch list" link found in the Watch List section of your home profile. This link will launch a tool where you can unhide any hidden threads. How long does a thread stay in my watch/hide list? If you have not marked to "keep" an item in your watch list, the item will be automatically removed after the thread has become inactive for 24 hours. "Keeping" items in your watch list will save them from being automatically removed when the thread becomes inactive, but you may only hold at most 100 items total in your watch and hide lists.

Recently, one of the more vocal members of the poker community, Allen Kessler (pictured), stood up to one of the up-and-coming poker rooms in North America regarding tournament entry fees, which erupted into a full-scale, public battle on a few fronts. --- PocketFives' news coverage is brought to you by William Hill Poker, one of the largest skins on the iPoker Network. The poker room offers a generous welcome package including a 200% deposit bonus up to $2,000 and a superb VIP program. Visit William Hill today! --- On Tuesday, Kessler issued a post on his Facebook page that pointed out a difference in what Montreal's Playground Poker Club, the host for the upcoming World Poker Tour Montrealtournament, charges for "juice" versus other casinos and card rooms. In a Twitter discussion with Playground, Kessler pointed out that the standard in the casino industry was a $3,200 tournament entry fee with $300 in "juice." Since last year, Playground, Kessler stated, has been charging $3,395 and $455. "Exactly what does the player get for that extra $155 that Playground completely pockets (and don't say the muffin buffet)," Kessler queried. This is where the conversation took a turn for the worse. In response, the Twitter representative for the Playground Poker Club wrote that it wasn't the "same event" and went on to say that the "quality of service and amenities is unlike any other poker room. Everyone who has been here (aside from you) agrees that Playground provides an experience unlike the 'standard' poker room." The final straw came with the finishing comments to Kessler from Playground: "People realize the fees are higher. However, they all understand why… except for you. No one is asking you to come and I assure you that your presence is not missed." As to be expected, a flood of support came in for Kessler across his Facebook page. One person noted, "Nothing special about that room, certainly not worth an extra $155 per entry." Another poster pointed out that the WPT should have an issue with a host casino raising its "juice" by more than 50%. Playground Poker Club honchos, realizing there was an issue brewing here, not only over the tournament fees but also the treatment of Kessler by its customer service staff, quickly put the PR machine into overdrive. While not mentioning Kessler directly, a press release from Playground stated, "Earlier today, the official Playground Poker Club Twitter account sent out a regrettable Tweet directed at one of the poker community's best-known characters. Playground's top priority… [is] to provide the best customer service in the industry… Today's Tweet was completely contrary to that ongoing mission." Playground went on to "assure the poker community that the words directed towards Mr. Kessler do not represent our brand or our values. The opinion of one passionate employee managed to get the better of him and he was held accountable." The release apologized to the poker community for "one person's lack of judgment that publicly jeopardizes our reputation." This isn't Kessler's first run-in with Playground. In 2012, Kessler questioned the exchange rate between the Canadian Dollar and the US Dollar and, at that time, stated he would never return. Kessler is also one of the most vocal players in the game on such issues as tournament structures and the amount of rake and, through his efforts, some changes have come about. Because of Kessler's open nature in discussing these subjects, however, he has rubbed some people the wrong way. As of Wednesday, Kessler hasn't stated publicly that he will be in Montreal for the tournament. Whether he is or isn't, the discussion of tournament poker fees is one that poker players will continue to keep an eye on as they continually increase. Want the latest poker headlines and interviews? Unless there was UB update I'm unaware of, it definetly does NOT save your HH's locally. You have to use a 3rd party program "Ultimate History." There are number of problems with this: - It often fails to grab them correctly - Use of the 3rd party program is a security risk - possible viruses, trojans, etc. - I play from a variety of different (all shitty) computers. They break, hd's crash, etc. So I'm left with the task of consolidating them to a single network folder which is a pain, or I'll lose them entirely and have holes. Not that I'm suprised, but I find it ludicrous that UB can't query their DB, find all your hands, and them zip and send 'em to you. I feel the ability to review your HH's is one of the key elements to online security and legitmacy. I believe that during the AP scandal, there was problem with AP only keeping HH's logged for 30 days or something because, "A month of HH's takes about 30gb of storage." Get some friggin server space cheapasses. Even with Stars and saving them directly to my Hard Drive, I would prefer to just ask them to run a query occasionnaly (I haven't done so in well over a year, but will soon). This way you know you're getting every last one of your hands. Keep in mind that if you're disconnected, your hole card information is not saved, or possibly the entire hand.

This is the understatement of the century. Not only do I have an email that says me I CAN use my credit card statement (please see attached), this was also CONFIRMED to me yesterday evening on YOUR OWN customer "service" helpline by a gentleman called Frank who even checked with YOUR department!!!! WHAT am i missing here????? I apologise for the tone of my email but to say I'm annoyed is an understatement. For a company that is considering floating on the FTSE, I would think that image would be everything to you but apparently you dont mind projecting the image of company that is run by people who are unsure of their own policies and procedures. Do not misunderstand me here, I am not arguing with the fact that you need ID verifacation. I have said on many occassions that I fully understand this, working in the banking industry myself I know why you need this. I am arguing with the fact that ive been told about 3 or 4 different things all of which i subsequently get told was wrong. Well heres a novel idea.... how about giving me the CORRECT information in the first place. Im beggining to think that I may be being punished for my original email when I dared to question your dubious practice of asking for copies of back and front of credit cards (I wasnt told in this instance that i could block out certain numbers). and I also wasnt told that it had to be the credit card that i deposited with way back in march, this didnt even come into my mind, as my last deposit was made via neteller. MANAGEMENT - it was at this point I decided to send it to you instead so........ I could ramble on forever but i will quickly summarize the customer "service" that I have recieved already - 1. Told I need to send credit card (front and back) no mention of blocking out of numbers, passport and deposit declaration (declaration to be found on website) 2. Told that these documents MUST be notarized as my withdrawal is over $10000, When it is obviously not....(last time i checked 9700 it came before 10000...though I may be wrong). 3.Told after i question sending my credit card front and back that instead I can send A credit card statement. No mention of it having to be any particular credit card. 4. After I send in credit card statement, deposit dec and passpot, get told that they cannot accept the credit crad statement because "The statement does not show your credit card number. This is required if you are not sending in your credit card itself." DOES NOT SHOW YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER. now, if they has said , doesnt include the credit card that you deposited with, this wouldve been resolved quickly. because it looked to me like they were saying it had NO credit card number on it. to which i replied, it has it in 2 different places. also, they couldnt accept the deposit dec because "the Deposit Declaration is not complete, showing only half the page." . This was also strange to me, as I had printed directly off your site exactly where I HAD BEEN TOLD TO. 5. After ringing up your customer "service" helpline about the above, get told that I can send in my credit card and block out sensitive info, if i had been told this in the first place when i complained about it (which anyone with an ounce of sense would think be the right time to do so), ONCE AGAIN, it wouldve saved alot of time. 6. Get told in the same phonecall that the deposit declaration shouldve been sent to me from you via email as the place where i WAS TOLD to print it off from didnt hold all the correct information. which begs to question A. why wasnt this sent to me and B. why on earth was i told to print of something that wasnt complete and wouldnt be acceptable!!!!!! 7.Get told that someone would be sending me the correct deposit declaration in an email shortly. Which suprisingly did come very shortly after my phonecall. unfortunately IT DIDNT have the deposit declaration attached to it!!!!!!!!! Are you starting to see why I am annoyed/fustrated yet? if not, dont worry...........theres more..... 8. After the non attaching of the declaration form, I sent an email with attachments of digital photos of my credit card asking them if these were acceptable (the quality was poor and i wanted to know if they would accept them, so if they didnt i could take stuff to work the next day to fax), also to inform them that they never attached the dec form and could they send one along with the answer to whether the photos were acceptable. 9. After getting no response, i ring up 24 hours later to your customer "service" helpline to ask for one. After a while ("frank" went to check with operations) i get told that the photos were not acceptable (which im not arguing with, as i said, they were poor quality) and they dont know why the attachment wasnt sent (no apology for this , by the way). 10. Get told by Frank that if I sent the STATEMENT of the correct credit card (he checked this with operations) along with the CORRECT deposit declaration (assuming it actually gets sent this time) that you would be able to process my withdrawal. ALL of this to come home tonight after a long hard days work to be told that "I HAVE BEEN MISINFORMED".!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can only assume that a relatively sane person is reading this and can understand my fustration and anger at the way with which i have been treated. If however, this has got through to someone of the same intellect and common sense of the people I have so far been dealing with in your company, then I can only hope that my email has given you a good laugh and will provide adequate toilet paper for at least one good wipe. The funniest thing about this, is that if i withdrew $4999 this month and $4999 next month, i wouldnt have had to do any of this. I find it a very stange policy that you advertise/make public the figures at which you perform verifacation checks on withdrawals. That to me IS UTTERLY INSANE. It is the equivalent of the bank I work for letting people know what level of money laundering is ok before we check it out. I am sorely tempted to cancel the 9700 cash out and do it 4999 at a time, BUT I will send the CORRECT credit card with the sensitive information blacked out, in the vain hope that this will FINALLY be enough to satisfy you and i never have to deal with this again. FINALLY AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS OF THEM FUCKING ME AROUND - I am Shelley, Operations Manager at Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) Ltd. thank you for your email which has been forwarded to me from the Pacific Poker Manager. I am both surprised and dismayed at your message, and having reviewed your account I see that you have in fact been misinformed on several occasions, as you state. I can but offer my apologies and my personal assurance that these issues will be addressed so that this does not happen again. I can advise you that your documents have now all been received, and your cashout for $9700 has been released today. You may expect your funds to be received to your Neteller account within 24 - 48 hours. Please note that your Cashout Limit has now been permanently increased to $10,000 per month. Thank you for your feedback in this matter, which we take very seriously. Negative feedback is an excellent way in which we can identify our shortfallings, and work to make our customer service better. I am very sorry that you have had such an unpleasant experience regarding your verification process, and as long as you stay within your $10,000 per month limit, you will not be asked for documents again. However please note that should you wish to cashout more than $10,000 ($20,000 is our absolute limit) you will be required to send notarised documents. I understand that you believe that publicising our limits for verification checks to be a little silly. However, please note that we perform verification checks on all members who deposit into our system, using other non-publicised methods. However, we are bound by our regulators to request documents as absolute proof of identity at the $5000 and $10,000 limits, so please be assured that these are not the only checks which we perform. In fact we are known to have the largest and most comprehensive Risk Management Department in online gaming, and we believe it to be safer to make transactions with us than at any other online casino. I do hope that you accept my apologies, and the assurance that the string of events which has led to your displeasure with our site will be dealt with at the highest levels. I certainly hope that this has not marred your experience with Pacific Poker. Should you have any further comments or queries, please feel free to contact me directly. I will be happy to help. Kindest regards, Shelley H, Operations Manager, Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) Ltd the trouble i had with this was unfuckingbelievable. 2 weeks of bullshit about what id was needed etc. I lost it with a guy on the phone before i sent this email. Sadly i still play there after swearing i wouldnt - if it wasnt such easy $$$ I would never play there again. -
I'm creating a Bodog hand history downloader that runs on PHP and will output to text files and/or Poker Office with MySQL. I've successfully connected using PHP + CURL, downloaded the hand id's, and can parse the hand action into an array. I'm working on the text file output and poker office queries. I'm only writing it for Sit-N-Go's right now so if anyone that knows PHP wants to help make it work with ring games and MTTs please contact me. Some to-do's: - plain text hand history formatting - slick front-end for inputting the date range, game types, etc. right now it's all hardcoded. - performance testing You'll need: - Server with PHP + CURL - A valid Bodog account Thanks.

I'm doing homework for my database mgmt system class and we have to do some basic Querys on a database we were given. I have the complete database in front of me and have to - "Customers who are part of a special program get a 15% discount off regular book prices. To determine the discounted prices, list the book code, title, and discounted price of every book (your calculated column should determine 85% for the current price, which is 100% less a 15% discount)" I can list everything on the Query - but Im not sure how to express the math under criteria to solve the new discounted price. If anyone knows the proper syntax to solve this please help.

question about the Electronic Shuffle
PokerStarsMichaelJ replied to fabuluis's question in Poker Advice
Hello, There appears to be some misunderstanding of what happens at PokerStars, so let me explain. Yes, each hand is shuffled individually. There is no connection between two hands in terms of what cards come out. I don't think that the rest of the deck is recorded anywhere, but I'm not absolutely certain of this. It's certainly not made publicly available, so there's no opportunity to investigate "what if..." Conceptually, there's a big queue of shuffled decks, and the server takes the next one as needed. It's a little more complicated, technically, but this is a good way of thinking about it. 1) PokerStars uses a fixed deck - the deck is shuffled, and then the cards are dealt out. We feel that this is the system most similar to live poker, where a deck is shuffled, and then dealt out. 2) We do not use the 'power cycle' of any computers in the process. We use the entropy from player's mouse movements and an Intel thermal noise RNG. If I'm understanding this correctly, this is not right - PokerStars has a fixed deck that is shuffled before the first card is dealt. I trust that this has been helpful to you, but please feel free to email support@pokerstars.com if you have further queries. -
OK, I lived through the "upgrade" and am still alive. I patiently waited while they tried to undo the whole, terrible mess that ensued. I even told others it was a temporary thing and would get taken care of. So, everything is going fine for a few weeks and then last night, BAM!!!!! All the old memories start coming back like a crack whores nightmare..... Money stuck at tables, can't get to account page, tables locking up, yada yada yada.... Debo, Leggggggggy, anybody!!!!!!!!!!! WTF is going on now? Still got money tied up and can't get to it. Maybe it is time to look elsewhere but I've got soooooo many friends on UB now and just don't like the look and feel of other sites. And why should I have to remember to write down every table I play on or every hand I'm in just in case something happens. I play till I'm tired or ready to change tables and then I do it. I don't remember the name of the table I was on, I just click on them. Any DBA worth his salt can write a simple SQL query to get this information from the database. I'm really started to get worried that UB is gonna crash and burn soon. Woody (MagikCowboy)

Stars Wont let me cash out/ Thinks Im cheating AGAIN!
Frenchy616 replied to Frenchy616's question in Poker Advice
Alright 2 weeks ago i couldnt deposit because they thought i was multi accounting and i had to prove my identity and all of that and I got my account back. Now today I am not being aloud to cash out anymore because im getting suspected of cheating again! Two of my friends that go to school with me are linked to me somehow because ive transfered them money before. Well I told stars about that and they said that its fine and they just needed me to prove stuff. then I got this email. Hello Christopher, Thank you for your email. Please be advised, your ID has been received previously as you have stated. Therefore you are not required to produce another copy. Your response to our relation has been noted in our records. I do however require you to produce a copy of a recent utility bill with your full name and address. Once we have received all the required documentation we can then proceed further with your query. Thank you for your cooperation and patience on this matter. Regards, Fitz, PokerStars Security. Well the problem is i am an 18 year old student at Indiana University. I dont pay any bills, or anything of that sort. Why do they need that? Isnt my drivers license enough? and even if i had something i dont have access to it because im back at school. YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME POKERSTARS GET OFF MY DICK ALREADY!!!!! -
Hi guys have a query i would really like some advise on please, i play a few live tournaments a month and start off great, build up a nice stack and feel comfortable but as soon as we come back from the break or we have a dealer change i seem to make a few mistakes and always find my self going bust this is a regular occurance and i have all the patience in the world but even when i have a big hand i luck out and get dwindled down then the blinds start to eat at my stack and i over play hands. My question is how should i be playing when ive built up a comfortable chip stack should i play the tight game and only play the premiums or should i play a little looser and try to see a few more hands/flops any positive critisism or advise would be much appreciated thanks

the email i got from them.... Hello Matt, Good to hear from you. If you win a second WSOP prize package, you would receive the cash value. As your account would be automatically updated with the $2000 cash portion, we would then credit your account the $10,000 for the value of the WSOP seat. Should you have a player or family/friend willing to take the seat, we will also accommodate a seat transfer. This will be the same option should you win multiple Conquest of Paradise Island prize packages. In about one week, we'll have a great series of webpages launched with Conquest details! Until then, you can send any Conquest queries direct to conquest@paradisepoker.com. Many thanks, Lara Paradise Promotions

#2 on google, with "humour" not "humor", which may have a different result: Do you have a 'good' sense of humour? April 18, 2006 You could be trying to break the ice with a new client. Or trying to impress a hot date. In both situations a good sense of humour could prove advantageous. But how do you know whether your's is good enough? How do you build upon it? We received a reader query on the subject for Get Ahead expert Nasha Fitter. Let's see what Nasha has to say. Got a question for Nasha? Write to us! I have heard having a good sense of humour often helps in breaking the ice. Also people remember you because of your wit and humour. I think I don't have a very good sense of homour. Could you suggest how to build on this? -- Radha Karnik This is a great question that is unfortunately difficult to answer. I can only give you my views on this topic, which may or may not be correct. I know that my sense of humour developed over time. When I was younger I was not funny at all; now I can easily make people laugh. At the same time, sometimes I say things that I think are very funny but others do not. Improving wit and humour, I believe, is an ongoing process. Now, there are various forms of humour and everyone has their individual style. Overall, I believe being fluent in a language is very important for being witty or funny. The way we play around with words adds the "funny" tag to an otherwise normal sentence. Also, seeing irony is very important. I think humour is often the link between two unrelated things. In my experience, laughing frequently and appreciating other people's jokes and wit is very important. Within this, finding humour in everyday normal situations is the key. I often notice what is going on around me and say funny things in my head and laugh to myself. That serves almost as practice for when I am in a group. I watch comedy shows and movies and I am sure that has some effect on helping me improve my sense of humour. And last, having confidence that you ARE witty is important. There will always be someone wittier or funnier than you, which is fine. Just work on building your own style. Remember, if you are trying to be funny and witty in order to break the ice at a business function, be careful. In those situations, humour has to be mild and politically correct. I am a chartered accountant. With the talk of the KPO boom I am curious to know how one can be a part of it. Can you suggest any course/training programme, which will be a doorway to the exciting times to come? -- Vikram The KPO boom is definitely exciting and it is great that you see the opportunities. The most important skill to possess in order to work in a KPO is domain specialisation. For example, you being a chartered accountant and you don't need training to work for a financial KPO (also called FPO -- Financial Process Outsourcing). KPO: Big bucks, big benefits! Your written English skills and overall professionalism may be important -- but those skills can be learned through any communication course (does not need to be one focused on KPOs). As far as finding a KPO to work for, I would suggest you look up the newspaper and job sites. You can even tap placement agencies. Got a question for Nasha? Write to us

Was this a to loose call with my chip count against my opponents?
fontane replied to GRETZKY427's question in Poker Advice
My only query here is the size of the initial raise, x2 raise seems a bit weak for me as I would have been concerned with the big stack calling such a small raise on principle! For me I think it would have been an initial x3 raise or a fold (I would have probably folded to be honest). That way if the SB went allin it would be an easy call, but if the SB had folded (knowing there was no way you had fold equity) and the BB had called, then I would have had to have hit the flop in some way to continue. If the BB raised or went allin it would have been an easy fold. Im only a $5 - $10 dollar (winning) player so would be interested if any decent sit'n'go players have opinions on this. Your call after SB went all-in was definately correct
